Saul Leiter was an American photographer and painter whose early work in the 1940's and 1950's was an important contribution to what came to be recognized as the New York school of photography. He liked to record city lifestyle. When recording his work Leiter liked shoot through widows of cafes, taxis and buses. Basically anywhere he was able to sit down and focus on urban city life. He like to shoot after the weather changes like after it had rained or snowed. Leiter also liked to capture condensation on windows and other surfaces.
Reflections home shoot
This was a very small brief shoot where we were asked to photgraph, reflections within our homes. These photographs were taken on a iphone thats why the quaility isn't as crisp as my other shoots. Whilst taking these images i decided to experiment with light in reflection. Light is a formal element which is the topic we are covering over our GCSE year.
Reflections home shoot- Edited
When editing thse images I did not have a specific look that I was going for that I may have had in previous shoots. So i contiued to experiment with only keeping one colour in the photograph and changing the other colours to black and white. Then chaging all colours to black and white in other photos. However in one or two of the photographs I have increased the saturation and viberance to full.
Shoot One
This shoot was done in Darlington we were asked to look for reflections within the town. Looking for the reflections in windows, cars, posters, signs, decorations, and mirrors. The photographs I have taken cover all of the sub-topics I focoused on capturing my photographs in window as they allowed me to capture the natural enviroment along side manmade structures.
Shoot One - Edited
When editing these images I focoused on removing colour to make one colour bolder as I know this is effective and I like the end product. All of the editing was done in Lightroom as I prefer editing in Lightroom instead of Photoshop
